Prediction

After an opening weekend loss to Burnley, Chelsea bounced back with victory over Tottenham last week and will be keen to get their title defence really up an running. The Blues are unbeaten in their last 23 home competitive meetings with Everton, and have won five of the last six matches between the two at Stamford Bridge, including a 5-0 trouncing of the Toffees in this fixture last season.

Everton secured their place in the group stages of the Europa League with a 1-1 draw against Hajduk Split and are unbeaten in all competitions this season. Ronald Koeman's side secured a credible 1-1 draw with Manchester City on Monday night, though the team is ravaged with injuries.

Chelsea will be confident of securing their first home win of the campaign against a potentially fatigued Everton outfit.

Prediction: Chelsea 3 - 1 Everton
