Overview

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) will face the rejuvenated Delhi Daredevils (DD) in the match 30 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) on Monday. The Men in Yellow are looking to adjust to the conditions in their new home Pune and are coming off a loss at the hands of Mumbai Indians (MI) at the same venue. While the visitors are riding high on confidence under their new skipper Shreyas Iyer after thumping KKR at home. However, they will have to be at their best to get past CSK as they can haunt them at any stage of the game.

CSK will have to rethink their strategy again as they don’t have a decent Indian bowler to replace Deepak Chahar. In that case, David Willey could come in with Imran Tahir making way for him. Also, Sam Billings might miss out to accommodate Faf du Plessis at the top of the order as Rayudu can play in the middle order to tackle the middle overs. With the lack of wrist spinner, Karn Sharma should also be included in the playing XI as the Men in Yellow would look to come back to the winning ways.

Daredevils have found their best combination of the tournament after taking some hard decisions. Colin Munro looks to be in good form in his second coming this season as Prithvi Shaw has also shined. The skipper Iyer and Rishabh Pant are in blazing touch as well. Glenn Maxwell has underperformed so far significantly but he has compensated it with the ball. The bowling attack has a venomous look with Trent Boult and Liam Plunkett leading from the front and the youngster Avesh Khan has also impressed.

Probable 11

DD- Prithvi Shaw, Colin Munro, Shreyas Iyer, Rishabh Pant, Glenn Maxwell, Rahul Tewatia, Lima Plunkett, Vijay Shankar/Jayant Yadav, Amit Mishra, Avesh Khan, Trent Boult.

CSK-  Murali Vijay, Shane Watson, Suresh Raina, Ambati Rayudu, MS Dhoni, Dwayne Bravo, David Willey, Mark Wood/Lungi Ngidi, Karn Sharma, Harbhajan Singh, Shardul Thakur.

Players to watch
Raina, Watson, Munro

Overview

Delhi Daredevils (DD) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) will face off in the match 26 of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL). The hosts will be playing with their new skipper Shreyas Iyer and it will be interesting to see if they gell well together under his leadership. Their opponents are coming off a six-day break and will be refreshed to bring their season back on track after blowing hot and cold so far. However, it will be yet another high-class encounter and is expected to be a thriller much like the previous matches.

Daredevils almost had a perfect XI in the last game but endured a heart-breaking loss off the last ball. There should not be many changes this time around and one should expect for Chris Morris to come back into the contention. Even Jayant Yadav also can come in to assist the leggie, Amit Mishra. The fast bowling trio of Liam Plunkett, Avesh Khan and Trent Boult have been excellent and should continue playing even as Prithvi Shaw showed glimpses of his talent in a brief knock in the last match.

KKR might hand a debut to Javon Searles in place of Tom Curran and the remaining line-up should be same. Chris Lynn has come back into sizzling form and is expected to continue in the same vein. Robin Uthappa has also been in brilliant touch hitting big shots at will but needs to convert those 20s and 30s into a big one now. They can also think of making a better use of Shubman Gill who is being wasted at 6 so far.

Jason Roy (side strain) and Chris Morris (back) missed Daredevils' last game against Kings XI Punjab. Given the four-day gap between that match and this one, Daredevils will hope one or both of them are fit and available to play. It appears Roy has the better chance - he trained on match eve, but Morris didn't.

Andre Russell went off the field clutching his right thigh after bowling 1.5 overs against Kings XI, but is expected to be good to go on Friday. With his hamstrings in mind, Knight Riders have looked to lighten Russell's bowling workload this season - he didn't bowl at all in the game before the Kings XI one, against Rajasthan Royals - and it's possible he might play as a pure batsman if he is not 100%.

Probable 11

KKR- Chris Lynn, Sunil Narine, Robin Uthappa, Nitish Rana, Dinesh Karthik, Shubman Gill/P Krishna, Andre Russell, Piyush Chawla, Javon Searles/Mitchell Johnson/Tom Curran, Shivam Mavi/Vinay Kumar, Kuldeep Yadav.

DD-  Chris Munro/J Roy, Prithvi Shaw, Shreyas Iyer, Rishabh Pant, Glenn Maxwell/Dan Christian, Gautam Gambhir/Gurkeerat Singh Mann, Jayant Yadav/Amit Mishra, Rahul tewatia, Liam Plunkett, Avesh Khan, Trent Boult.

Players to watch

Overview

The Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), in their previous game against the Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) at the PCA Stadium in Mohali, were beaten black and blue. Chris Gayle’s belligerent century panned out to be a nightmare for Kane Williamson’s men. This time around, the battle shifts to the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, the home venue of the Orange Army.

SRH will want to start the innings with two of their best batsmen Shikhar Dhawan and skipper Kane Williamson, Wriddhiman Saha who has struggled with the bat can walk in at number three in that scenario. Manish Pandey hasn’t been in the best of touch and is expected to hit his straps as the event moves into the business end. Shakib, Yusuf and Mohammad Nabi’s contribution will also be vital.

Chris Gayle, after being rested against Delhi, is likely to return for this game, especially after his match-winning knock against the same opponent in Mohali. Aaron Finch, who has strained in the series, might be dropped. Karun Nair has been consistent, however, Yuvraj Singh has looked out of sorts. David Miller played a breezy knock against Delhi and deserves to be in the playing eleven.

Probable 11

SRH- Shikhar Dhawan, Alex Hales/M Nabi, Kane Williamson, Wriddhiman Saha/S Goswami, Manish Pandey, Shakib Al Hasan/Mohammad Nabi, Yusuf Pathan, Rashid Khan, Sidharth Kaul, Bhuvneshwar Kumar/Sandeep Sharma/Basil Thampi (Any 2).

KXIP-  KL Rahul, Chris Gayle/Aaron Finch, Mayank Agarwal, Karun Nair, Yuvraj Singh/Manoj Tiwary/Axar Patel, David Miller/Marcus Stoinis, Ravichandran Ashwin, Andrew Tye, Barinder Sran/Mohit Sharma, Ankit Rajpoot, Mujeeb Ur Rahman.

Overview

The much-awaited dream clash of the Indian Premier League (IPL) season is here. The former and current Indian captains will stack up against each other when Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) will take on Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at the Chinnaswamy Stadium on Wednesday. A lot of superstars going around in world cricket will be in action as entertainment is guaranteed for the cricket fans.

They are coming off a resounding victory against Delhi and the confidence will be high in the change room. Quinton de Kock looked like regaining some form in the last match and should come out all guns blazing. The middle order has been ever so strong with Kohli, De Villiers and Corey Anderson even as Mandeep Singh can also tonk the ball a fair way. The bowlers have been good in patches and you never know which Umesh Yadav is going to turn up on the day.

MS Dhoni rarely believes in changing the winning XI and apart from last minute injuries, an unchanged team will face RCB in their den. Faf du Plessis needs another chance at the top as it might be his day to win the game for his side. The likes of Raina, Rayudu, Watson all are in form and never ignore Dhoni at 5 who is regaining his lost touch and in last game itself tonked the ball a long way soon after coming in to bat. Billings and Bravo are the able finishers in the line-up and the batting goes on for the visitors.

Probable 11

CSK- Faf du Plessis, Shane Watson, Suresh Raina, Ambati Rayudu, MS Dhoni, Sam Billings/Imran Tahir/David Willey, Dwayne Bravo, Ravindra Jadeja, Deepak Chahar, Karn Sharma, Shardul Thakur.

RCB-  Quinton de Kock, Manan Vohra/Parthiv Patel, Virat Kohli, AB de Villiers, Corey Anderson, Mandeep Singh, Washington Sundar, Chris Woakes/Tim Southee/Moin Ali, Umesh Yadav, Mohammad Siraj/Kulwant Khejroliya, Yuzvendra Chahal.

Overview

Mumbai Indians (MI) have had similar fortunes in all their previous games thus far the tournament. All their games have gone right down to the wire, but they have managed to hold their nerves only once against the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). On the other hand, the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) have stuttered following an impressive start to their campaign.

Mumbai faltered during the dying stages of their game against Rajasthan. However, chances of them making too many changes look bleak. JP Duminy might replace Kieron Pollard as the Windies all-rounder hasn’t done anything of substance in the tournament. The team would be hoping their middle order, especially the likes of Hardik, Krunal and Duminy, provided he is included, to fire.

Shikhar Dhawan missed out the last two games and might return for tomorrow’s game after his injury layoff. Ricky Bhui, who had a horrendous outing against Chennai Super Kings, might have to sit out, which also means that Wriddhiman Saha might open the batting. Meanwhile, the likes of Manish Pandey and Deepak Hooda need to strike form at the earliest.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar did not travel with Sunrisers to Mumbai; ESPNcricinfo understands he has been rested and will be available for their next game. Sandeep Sharma will be a like-for-like replacement. Shikhar Dhawan, who had hurt his left elbow against Kings XI Punjab last week, stated on Twitter with a strapped elbow that it was not a fracture. He went to Wankhede on Monday evening for a hit in the nets and a fitness test, and a final call on him will be taken on Tuesday.

Yusuf struggled with cramps while batting on Sunday night and Williamson "wasn't 100% sure" but hoped Yusuf would be fine by Tuesday evening.

Probable 11

SRH- Shikhar Dhawan/Tanmay Agarwal, Wriddhiman Saha/S Goswami, Kane Williamson, Manish Pandey, Yusuf Pathan/Sachin Baby/Bipul Sharma, Shakib Al Hasan, Deepak Hooda, Rashid Khan, Sandeep Sharma, Billy Stanlake(35%)/Jordan(50%)/Alex Hales(15%), Sidharth Kaul.

MI-  Evin Lewis, Suryakumar Yadav, Ishan Kishan, Rohit Sharma, JP Duminy/Pollard, Krunal Pandya, Hardik Pandya, Mitchell McClenaghan/Adam Milne, Mayank Markande, Jasprit Bumrah, Mustafizur Rahman.

Overview

Delhi Daredevils (DD) are finally playing on their home ground after being on the road since the start of the Indian Premier League (IPL) this year. But the homecoming might not turn out to be so good for them as they will be up against the table toppers and the in-form Kings XI Punjab (KXIP). The hosts will feel confident at least as they will have the much-needed crowd support to buck them up. However, it will be interesting to see if the Gayle storm continues to travel around the country or the treat was only for Mohali and Kolkata.

Delhi Daredevils seriously needs to think about their team combination and we might see some wholesale changes for this game. The likes of Dan Christian and Gurkeerat Mann might come into the contention in place of Chris Morris and Vijay Shankar who have surprisingly not done anything so far. It is time for their skipper Gambhir also to step up and score significantly along with his partner Roy. The bowling also needs a change and Amit Mishra given his familiarity with Kotla surface.

This team has no problems whatsoever and should go in unchanged again. They have all the guns firing really well and only some last-minute injuries might affect their line-up. Expect for yet another blazing start from KL Rahul and Chris Gayle and even they fail, the likes of Mayank Agarwal and Karun Nair have stepped up nicely. Their bowling has been magnificent as well with the skipper R Ashwin taking it upon himself along with the talented Mujeeb Zadran. Even Andrew Tye is back to his best and should continue bowling in the same vein.

Probable 11

KXIP- Chris Gayle, KL Rahul, Mayank Agarwal/Akashdeep/Manoj Tiwary, Karun Nair, Aaron Finch, Yuvraj Singh, R Ashwin, Mujeeb Zadran, Andrew Tye, Barinder Sran, Ankit Rajpoot/Mohit Sharma.

DD-  Gautam Gambhir, Jason Roy/N Ojha, Shreyas Iyer, Rishabh Pant, Glenn Maxwell, Morris/Christian, Gurkeerat Mann(80%)/Vijay(20%), R Tewatia, Nadeem(20%)/Jayant(30%)/Mishra(50%), Trent Boult, Harshal/Sandeep/Plunkett.

Overview

Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and the Delhi Daredevils will be locking horns at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore. Both teams have a solitary victory under their belts, which were earned when the game went right down to the wire. The franchises have a lot to ponder about ahead of their upcoming clash.

Parthiv Patel might replace Sarfraz Khan and could be sent to open the batting along with Quinton de Kock. Virat Kohli has been in stupendous form and desperately needs support from the other end. AB de Villiers hasn’t quite lived up to expectations and he needs to deliver as well. Mandeep Singh has been in excellent touch who will be followed by Corey Anderson.

Delhi won’t tinker with their opening stand in Gautam Gambhir and Jason Roy. Shreyas Iyer is a dependable batsman followed by the aggressors in Glenn Maxwell and Rishabh Pant. Chris Morris has been effective in the limited opportunities he has got. Gurkeerat Singh Mann will add the much-needed depth to their misfiring batting lineup.

Mohammed Shami has been highly disappointing and Harshal Patel might replace him in the eleven. Trent Boult bowled with venom against the Knights and a lot would depend on him regarding how he would perform with the leather. Meanwhile, Amit Mishra might replace Rahul Tewatia after being dropped for the last couple of games. Chris Morris and Shahbaz Nadeem would also have their roles of containing the batsmen.

Probable 11

RCB- Parthiv Patel, Quinton de Kock/Brendon McCullum, Virat Kohli, AB de Villiers, Mandeep Singh, Corey Anderson, Washington Sundar, Chris Woakes/Colin de Gandhomme, Umesh Yadav, Mohammed Siraj, Yuzvendra Chahal.

DD-  Jason Roy, Gautam Gambhir, Shreyas Iyer, Glenn Maxwell, Rishabh Pant, Chris Morris, Gurkeerat Singh Mann/Vijay Shankar, Shahbaz Nadeem//Jayant Yadav/Amit Mishra, Rahul Tewatia, Harshal Patel/Shami, Trent Boult.

Overview

The Cauvery issue has ensured that the home games of the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) were shifted to Pune where they will lock horns tomorrow with the Rajasthan Royals (RR). Though the atmosphere in the city won’t be the same as that of Chennai, MS Dhoni’s men would desperately want to shed the disappointment of not getting Chepauk as the venue and come out firing on all cylinders.

MS Dhoni batted through a back injury in their previous match against Kings XI Punjab, but he trained with the team on the eve of the game against Royals. Raina, who had missed CSK's previous match because of a calf injury, also resumed training and could return to the team on Friday.

David Willey, who was Kedar Jadhav's replacement player for CSK, was seen bowling extensively in the nets on match eve. Does that mean an IPL debut for the England allrounder.

Ben Laughlin has fared poorly, going at 10.39 an over. Royals have a potential replacement in Jofra Archer, although it isn't clear yet if he has recovered from the side strain that kept him out of much of the Pakistan Super League and the start of the Indian Premier League.

Probable 11

CSK- Shane Watson, Ambati Rayudu, Suresh Raina/M Vijay, Sam Billings/Faf du Plessis, MS Dhoni, Ravindra Jadeja, Dwayne Bravo, Deepak Chahar/Karn Sharma, Harbhajan Singh, Shardul Thakur, Imran Tahir/David Willey.

RR-  Ajinkya Rahane, Rahul Tripathi, Sanju Samson, Ben Stokes, Jos Buttler, D’Arcy Short/Heinrich Klaasen, Krishnappa Gowtham, Shreyas Gopal, Jaydev Unadkat/Anureet Singh/Ankit Sharma, Dhawal Kulkarni/S Binny, Ben Laughlin/Joffra Archer.

Overview

Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) are all set to host the only unbeatable team this season Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on Thursday at PCA IS Bindra Stadium. Both the teams are enjoying early honours by being in the top half of the points table and a win for either of them would strengthen their position. While KXIP are looking a strong unit this year and it won’t be easy for SRH to get past them.

Axar Patel should return to the side in place of Barinder Sran after the former sat out of the previous game due to a niggle. Aaron Finch is too good a player to be dropped after two consecutive golden ducks and would be aiming to get off the mark in this game. No other changes are expected for the home side but the batting line-up should fare better after the top order is providing them with blistering starts more often than not.

This time has no reason to change their winning combination. Their ploy to send Saha to open the innings has worked wonders so far which has helped their skipper Williamson to accumulate himself at number 3 and control the innings wonderfully. But the remainder of the batters are yet to step up and they might need to contribute against KXIP. The bowling has been the best of the tournament so far as they haven’t conceded more than 150 yet and would hope to continue in the same vein.

Probable 11

KXIP- Chris Gayle, KL Rahul, Mayank Agarwal/Manoj Tiwary, Yuvraj Singh, Aaron Finch/Marcus Stoinis/David Miller, Karun Nair, Axar Patel/Ankit Rajpoot, R Ashwin, Andrew Tye, Mohit Sharma, Mujeeb Ur Rahman.

SRH-  Wriddhiman Saha, Shikhar Dhawan, Kane Williamson, Manish Pandey, Shakib Al Hasan, Deepak Hooda, Yusuf Pathan, Rashid Khan, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Siddarth Kaul/Sandeep Sharma, Billy Stanlake.

Overview

The eleventh edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) has begun a week ago and the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) already find themselves in tatters. A couple of defeats combined with a plethora of players succumbing to injuries doesn’t hold them in good stead ahead of their home clash against the Delhi Daredevils (DD) at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata.

KKR might not experiment anymore with Narine in the middle order and send him to open with Chris Lynn. In that case, Robin Uthappa will shift to number three. Nitish Rana and Dinesh Karthik will be crucial in the middle. Shubman Gill might be promoted ahead of Andre Russell. Shivam Mavi and Mitchell Johnson add depth to their batting.

Gautam Gambhir and Jason Roy, the Player of the Match against Mumbai Indians, are the likely openers. Shreyas Iyer comes at number three ahead of Rishabh and Glenn Maxwell, bearing in mind the nature of the wicket. Meanwhile, Maxwell and Pant’s power-hitting prowess needs to come to the fore for Delhi. Vijay Shankar and Daniel Christian are no mugs with the willow either.

Probable 11

KKR- Chris Lynn, Sunil Narine, Robin Uthappa, Nitish Rana, Dinesh Karthik, Shubman Gill, Andre Russell, Shivam Mavi, Mitchell Johnson/Tom Curran, Piyush Chawla, Kuldeep Yadav.

DD-  Jason Roy, Gautam Gambhir, Shreyas Iyer, Rishabh Pant, Glenn Maxwell, Vijay Shankar/Prithvi Shaw, Daniel Christian, Rahul Tewatia, Shahbaz Nadeem/Jayant Yadav, Mohammed Shami, Trent Boult.

Overview

Mumbai Indians (MI) were the firm favourites against the Chennai Super Kings (CSK), however, slumped during the crunch moments of the game, which saw them end on the losing side. On the contrary, Sunrisers Hyderabad parked aside the disappointment of David Warner’s exclusion from the team and strung together a clinical show to beat a lacklustre Rajasthan Royals.

After a dominating performance last time around, the Sunrisers are highly unlikely to make any changes to the eleven. Wriddhiman Saha faltered at the top, but it will be unfair if he is dropped after one failure. Shikhar Dhawan and Williamson remain to be the backbone of the team. The franchise would also like to test out Pandey, Yusuf, Hooda, and Shakib as the tournament progresses.

The bowling armoury dished out a comprehensive show as every bowler contributed with at least a wicket. The spinners in Shakib and Rashid Khan have the potential to bamboozle the best batsmen in the business. Bhuvneshwar and Billy Stanlake also kept the batsmen in check from unleashing their range of strokes.

Mumbai, despite their defeat, won’t be willing to change the lineup just yet. Rohit and Evin Lewis still remains to be one of the most dangerous opening batsmen in the league. Also, it was heartening to see Suryakumar and Ishan Kishan delivering when the team required them the most. Krunal and Hardik along will Kieron Pollard, who was slated to come at number seven, adds to the depth of their batting.

The bowling lineup looks in good shape as well. Mayank Markande emerged as a handy prospect with his bag of tricks. He along with Krunal Pandya, who didn’t get to bowl against Chennai, might need to step up against the hosts. Mustafizur Rahman, who stumbled against Kedar Jadhav, needs to deliver.  Jasprit Bumrah will also want to shrug off the disappointing performance against CSK.

Probable 11

SRH- Wriddhiman Saha, Shikhar Dhawan, Kane Williamson, Manish Pandey, Deepak Hooda, Yusuf Pathan, Shakib Al Hasan, Rashid Khan, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Billy Stanlake, Siddarth Kaul.

MI-  Rohit Sharma, Evin Lewis, Ishan Kishan, Suryakumar Yadav, Hardik Pandya/Saurabh Tiwary, Krunal Pandya, Kieron Pollard/Ben Cutting, Mitchell McClenaghan, Jasprit Bumrah, Mustafzur Rahman, Mayank Markande.

Overview

The juggernaut of the Indian Premier League (IPL) now moves on to Jaipur as Rajasthan Royals (RR) will celebrate their homecoming. After a lot of speculations, Sawai Mansingh Stadium is also all set to host the matches of the tournament this year. They will face Delhi Daredevils in their second game, as both the teams are coming off a crushing defeat in their respective opening games.

Daredevils will welcome the return of Glenn Maxwell. A straight swap with Dan Christian is the most-likely possibility, given they have two other seam-bowling allrounders in Vijay Shankar and Chris Morris to bank on.

Given how their batting struggled, they could look at beefing up their lower order by including Stuart Binny in place of K Gowtham, who was out for zero and bowled a lone over. Binny can also chip in with the ball if needed. Jofra Archer is still recovering from a side strain and hasn't arrived until match-eve. Their two other overseas recruits - Sri Lanka's Dushmantha Chameera and Afghanistan's Zahir Khan are struggling with injuries.

It is unlikely that Royals will make any changes to their line-up after losing only a single game as they had fielded their best available XI in the last match. Jofra Archer is yet to recover from an injury he sustained while playing in the PSL. Ben Stokes might come down to bat at 5 where is more suited to play as they can promote Rahul Tripathi to open where he was immensely successful last year. The bowling attack needs to perform to its potential though as they looked toothless the other night.

The delighting news for the team is that Glenn Maxwell has arrived and should walk into the XI straight away. Daniel Christian is likely to make way for him. Maxwell should provide a huge boost to their batting line-up. He will have to bat at 4 or 5 so that the Australian will get settled and tonk the ball at the death. The remainder of the team is likely to be same and it would be unfair on the players to be dropped only after one game.

Overview

Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Rajasthan Royals (RR) are all set to lock horns in the fourth match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) on Monday. Both the teams were dealt with a severe blow as their respective captains David Warner and Steve Smith were ruled out of the tournament following the ban imposed on them by Cricket Australia (CA). While both the franchises have stressed that they won’t be missing their best players during the season, only time will tell if it was really a dent to their fortunes in the cash-rich league.

Shikhar Dhawan and Alex Hales will undoubtedly open the innings as the latter will have to play the role which Warner played for the side. Shakib Al Hasan, Rashid Khan and skipper Kane Williamson should be their other overseas players in the playing XI. Manish Pandey and Yusuf Pathan should give solidity to the middle order as Wriddhiman Saha can be used as a floater given his skills to tonk the ball.

D’Arcy Short has done enough in the Big Bash League (BBL) to seal his place at the top for Royals along with Rahul Tripathi who played extremely well last year. Their other foreign players would be Jos Buttler, Ben Stokes and Jofra Archer who can win games single-handedly on their day. Rahane will be having a lot of options up his sleeve as far as the bowling is concerned. Though the new ball should be taken by Dhawal Kulkarni and Jaydev Unadkat.

Probable 11

SRH- Shikhar Dhawan, Alex Hales, Kane Williamson, Shakib Al Hasan, Manish Pandey, Deepak Hooda, Wriddhiman Saha, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Rashid Khan, Siddarth Kaul/Yusuf Pathan, Sandeep Sharma.

Overview

Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) have been encountered with some injury concerns prior to their opening game against the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in Kolkata. Probably, that’s one of the reasons why Simon Katich, the batting coach of the Knights have labeled the Knights as ‘underdogs’ going into their first match in the Indian Premier League (IPL).

Mitchell Starc has been ruled out of the tournament with a tibial bone stress fracture in his right leg, and the Knight Riders coach Jacques Kallis has pinned his faith on Tom Curran, the bowling allrounder from England, to fill in ably. There were also doubts surrounding Chris Lynn and Andre Russell, who pulled out of the PSL due to injuries, and Sunil Narine, who was reported for a suspect action in the same tournament. But the Knight Riders management has assured fans that all three will be available for the opener.

Nathan Coulter-Nile, who was Knight Riders' second-highest wicket-taker last season, will miss the opportunity of taking on his former franchise. As he has continues to recover from a back stress fracture, Coulter-Nile has been withdrawn from the Royal Challengers squad and replaced by Corey Anderson.

Probable 11

KKR- Chris Lynn, Sunil Narine, Nitish Rana, Robin Uthappa, Dinesh Karthik, Shubman Gill, Andre Russell, Tom Curran/Mitchell Johnson, Piyush Chawla, Kuldeep Yadav, Kamlesh Nagarkoti/Vinay Kumar.

RCB-  Parthiv Patel, Brendon McCullum, Virat Kohli, AB de Villiers, Sarfraz Khan, Pawan Negi/N Saini, Ghome/Anderson, Washington Sundar, Tim Southee/Chris Woakes, Yuzvendra Chahal, Umesh Yadav.

Overview

Mumbai Indians (MI) and the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have had contrasting fortunes in the previous season of the Indian Premier League (IPL). While Rohit Sharma’s men raced to their third championship last year, the Chennai franchise was reeling after their being handed a ban of two years owing to match-fixing and corruption scandals.

Stephen Fleming, the Super Kings coach, has confirmed that Faf du Plessis is unavailable for selection. Du Plessis is recovering from a finger injury that troubled him all through South Africa's recently concluded home summer, an injury that was aggravated by a painful blow from (Mumbai's) Pat Cummins during the Johannesburg Test.

Evin Lewis and Ishan Kishan are the likely openers for the franchise. Rohit Sharma comes next, who has to lead the team from the front followed by Suryakumar Yadav who is returning to Mumbai after his stint with the Kolkata Knight Riders. Krunal Pandya’s composed temperament with the willow also needs to come to the fore. Meanwhile, Kieron Pollard and Hardik Pandya also need to deliver for the Indians.

Probable 11

MI- Evin Lewis, Ishan Kishan, Rohit Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav, Krunal Pandya, Kieron Pollard, Hardik Pandya, Mitchell McClenaghan, Mustafizur Rahman, Jasprit Bumrah, Rahul Chahar.

CSK-  Murali Vijay, Sam Billings, Suresh Raina, Shane Watson, MS Dhoni, Kedar Jadhav/Ambati Rayudu, Ravindra Jadeja, Dwayne Bravo, Harbhajan Singh, Mark Wood/Lungi Ngidi, Shardul Thakur.
