Overview

The Caribbean side will hope to raise their game in the crucial second T20I at Bay Oval. One of the issues through the course of the tour for West Indies has been the lack of runs from the top-order batsmen. In the third ODI, Trent Boult and Matt Henry reduced West Indies to 9 for 5, while Seth Rance and Doug Bracewell ran through the visitors' batting line-up in the first T20I.

Williamson will return to lead the side, with the seasoned campaigner Taylor being rested. Colin de Grandhomme's return is still unknown after he suffered a personal tragedy.

With Evin Lewis missing out due to personal reasons, Gayle and Chadwick Walton will open the batting. Rayad Emrit, the experienced pacer, could come into the equation. Emrit has bagged 119 scalps at 20.86 in the T20 format and has a string of variations up his sleeve. Kieron Pollard, the veteran all-rounder, could also find a place in the side.

Probable 11

NZ- Martin Guptill, Colin Munro, Kane Williamson, Glenn Phillips, Tom Bruce, Anaru Kitchen, Mitchell Santner, Doug Bracewell/Lockie Ferguson, Seth Rance, Tim Southee, Ish Sodhi.

WI- Chris Gayle, Chadwick Walton, Andre Fletcher/Shimron Hetmyer, Shai Hope/Shimron Hetmyer , Jason Mohammed, Rovman Powell, Carlos Brathwaite, Ashley Nurse, Samuel Badree, Jerome Taylor, Kesrick Williams/Sheldon Cottrell.

Players who cannot be ignored

Glenn Phillips- He has set high benchmarks for his opening competitors. He is big threat to watch out for the Windies as he has the tendency to bat for ages.

Chris Gayle- They need him to fire if they are to walk off their country with some decent results.

Overview

Adelaide Strikers have looked the most settled team in this season’s Big Bash League (BBL) so far. Not just because they have won two back to back games, but the way they have won those games. Yes, the last game against the Sixers went a bit tight towards the end, but that’s only because the Sixers tail-enders wagged and managed to connect a few, otherwise, it was turning into another one-sided game for the Strikers.

Apart from Rashid, the other bowlers have come to the fore as well for the strikers. While Billy Stanlake has rattled the batsmen with his pace, Michael Neser has been pretty decent with his variations as well. Travis Head trusted him to bowl the last over against the Sixers and he lived up to the expectations of the skipper as he nailed five yorkers in the over to make sure the opposition couldn’t go over the line. It was a wonderful exhibition of death bowling by the 27-year old.

The Heat’s bowling, however, will be a little weaker coming into this game because of the departure of the leg-spinner Shadab Khan who has left for New Zealand to join the Pakistan national squad. The Heat though still have a leg-spinning option in the form of Mitchell Swepson who had done a wonderful job for them last season. This season though, he hasn’t been at this best and the think tank will now want him to step up to the plate in Shadab’s absence.

Probable 11

ADS- Alex Carey, Jake Weatherald, Travis Head, Collin Ingram, Jonathan Wells, Jake Lehmann/Jono Dean, Michael Neser, Rashid Khan, Peter Siddle, Ben Laughlin, Billy Stanlake.

Overview

Sydney Thunder had started the tournament with a thrilling win in the first game, but they lost the plot thereafter and with two consecutive losses, they are now sitting at no. 5 in the table. Thunder will take on Hobart Hurricanes tomorrow who themselves are positioned at the bottom of the table. However, to be fair to them, they have played just one game so far.

There is also doubt over the availability of Ben Rohrer who took a nasty blow on his neck batting in the last game against the Brisbane Heat and looked in enormous discomfort while leaving the ground. If he misses out, Thunder batting will weaken even further as he is a seasoned campaigner in T20 cricket.

Hobart Hurricanes, on the other hand, don’t have too many problems in the middle order with George Bailey and Daniel Christian providing them experience and stability there. Both have got a fair idea of how to pace the innings in T20 cricket and can smash the ball a long distance too whenever needed. Apart from them, the young Ben McDermott has also shown glimpses of what a devastating T20 player he can be.

Probable 11

HBH- Alex Doolan, D’Arcy Short, Ben McDermott, George Bailey, Daniel Christian, Matthew Wade, Jofra Archer, Cameron Boyce, Clive Rose, Tymal Mills, Simon Milenko/Tom Rogers.

SYT-  Jos Buttler, Kurtis Patterson, Shane Watson, Callum Ferguson, Ben Rohrer/Aiden Blizzard, Arjun Nair, Ryan Gibson, Chris Green, Mitchell McClenaghan, Fawad Ahmed, Andrew Fekete/Gurinder Sandhu.

Overview

It will be a top of the table clash in the Big Bash League (BBL) tomorrow as the Melbourne Renegades take on the Perth Scorchers at the Docklands Stadium Melbourne. Both the teams won their opening two games and will look to continue the winning streak. It will be a tussle between the Renegades’ batting and the Scorchers’ bowling more than anything else.

The Scorchers can use somebody like David Willey or Ashton Agar in a pinch-hitting role up the order to give the innings an impetus in the middle period. Willey opens in white-ball cricket back home in England, while Agar has also batted in top 6 at times in T20 cricket.

As far as Renegades are concerned, while batting is clearly their stronger facet, they have got some smart bowling resources as well in the form of Bravo who like Tye is known for his variations and can bowl at any stage of the innings and also Nabi who is a fast off break bowler ideal for T20s. Not to forget the wily, old fox Brad Hogg as well who even at the age of 46 is a tough nut to crack for any batsman.

Probable 11

MLR- Aaron Finch, Marcus Harris, Cameron White, Tom Cooper, Brad Hodge, Dwayne Bravo, Mohammad Nabi, Tim Ludeman, Kane Richardson/Chris Tremain, Brad Hogg, Jack Wildermuth.

PS- William Bosisto, Micheal Klinger, Hilton Cartwright, Ashton Turner, Adam Voges, Ashton Agar, David Willey, Josh Inglis, Jhye Richardson, Andrew Tye, Mitchell Johnson.

Overview

The Cricket West Indies (CWI) recently announced the 14-member Windies squad for the 3-match T20I series against New Zealand. Pretty much on the expected lines of development, the selectors have opted to go with a few changes in the squad. The visitors have had a very tough time on the tour thus far. They were drubbed 0-2 in the Test series and have recently been beaten by the New Zealand side in the ODI series as well.

With Williamson and Colin de Grandhomme (who left the country following the death of his father) unavailable, there may be opportunities for the likes of Anaru Kitchen and Tom Bruce. Ross Taylor's return to the T20 XI may mean that those two players are competing for only one spot, however. Martin Guptill also comes back to the top of the order, after missing the ODIs due to injury.

Ronsford Beaton has returned home with a side strain, and with Pollard also having pulled out, West Indies' XI is difficult to predict. They have plenty of options: three potential wicketkeepers and a number of allrounders gracing their squad. Sheldon Cottrell - the left-arm quick who had success in the ODIs - may get his chance to shine in this format also.

The weather in Nelson is forecast to be dry for the duration of this match, with temperatures likely to reach the low 20 C range. Saxton Oval has never hosted a T20, but ODI scores of over 300 have occasionally been reached there.

Probable 11

NZ- Martin Guptill, Colin Munro, Ross Taylor, Glenn Phillips, Anaru Kitchen/Seth Rance, Tom Bruce, Mitchell Santner, Doug Bracewell/Seth Rance, Lockie Ferguson, Tim Southee, Ish Sodhi.

Overview

Sydney Sixers haven’t had a great start to their Big Bash League (BBL) 7 campaign as they find themselves in the bottom half of the table at the moment. After 2 losses in 2 games, they will be desperate for a victory tomorrow when they take on the Adelaide Strikers at the Sydney Cricket Ground.

Sixers might have made a change at the top of the order if Collin Munro had been available, but Munro is currently on national duty playing for the Black Caps in the limited-over games against West Indies. He will be available only after January 3 which means Jason Roy will get another couple of cracks at the top of the order and Sixers would want an explosive start from the England opener.

The Strikers will like to go with the winning combination which fetched them a great result in the opening game. Travis Head will hold the key position of no. 3 and will have to control the innings. He was playing well against the Scorchers, but lost his wicket at a crucial juncture and couldn’t give that finishing kick to the Strikers’ innings.

Probable 11

Prediction

Newcastle moved out of the bottom three courtesy of a 3-2 win away to West Ham on Saturday. Before that, they had lost eight of their last nine. That should give Rafa Benitez's side some confidence ahead of this daunting fixture.

Manchester City are storming their way to the title and have now won their last 17 Premier League matches in a row. They have kept clean sheets in four of their last six visits to St. James' Park, to increase their chances of winning even further.

With changes expected from both managers, it's hard to predict outcomes during the hectic festive period, but it would be a shock if City didn't pick up all three points and close in on Bayern Munich's record of 19 straight wins in Europe's top five league history.

Prediction: Newcastle United 0-2 Manchester City

Overview

Brisbane Heat and Sydney Thunder both have had a mixed bag in the BBL 7 so far. While they started with a win in their opening games, lost the next one and now find themselves in the middle of the table with Heat at no. 4, while Thunder are at 5.

Lynn returning, Sam Heazlett may have to make way for him. Heazlett who has batted 3 in Lynn’s absence has failed in both the games so far as he has scores of 14 and 11 to his name respectively. That’s probably the only change Heat will be making in their XI.

As far as the Thunder are concerned, they will be going with the same XI that they fielded in the last game against the Strikers. Although they lost that game badly, they will probably stick to the same set of guys as they had performed fantastically well against the local rivals Sixers in the tournament opener.

Probable 11

Overview

Five years ago, Cricket South Africa decided to try something new over Boxing Day. Instead of host a Test, as has become a (modern, in this country) tradition, they opted to play limited-overs matches against New Zealand in the hope that the shorter format would encourage a more festive vibe. But they misread the mood severely and were met with a barrage of complaints from people who were expecting to see players in whites in the week between Christmas and New Year.

South Africa's team balance hinges on the fitness of Faf du Plessis, who gave himself only a 60% chance of playing, on Christmas Eve. If du Plessis is able to take the field, the choice will be between him and AB de Villiers in the line-up, with Temba Bavuma likely to be retained, at least for now. Should du Plessis not be able to play, de Villiers will slot into his place, with Dean Elgar likely to lead, as he did at Lord's. Alternatively, both du Plessis and de Villiers could be included in a lengthened line-up of seven batsmen with Andile Phehlukwayo making way. And that's only half the story. With all four premier fast bowlers fit, South Africa also have to make a choice of which three to pick, as it is given spinner Keshav Maharaj will play. One of Dale Steyn and Morne Morkel is likely to sit out.

Though Solomon Mire has yet to show all the qualities of a Test opener, Zimbabwe are likely to persist with him in the role. On paper, that gives them a strong top six with the experience of Hamilton Masakadza, Craig Ervine and Brendan Taylor surrounding the promise of Mire, PJ Moor and Sikandar Raza. With Regis Chakabva at No.7 and their attack of three frontline seamers and captain Graeme Cremer, they have the makings of a well-balanced side.

Probable 11

SA- Dean Elgar, Aiden Markram, Hashim Amla, AB de Villiers/Faf du Plessis, Temba Bavuma, Quinton de Kock, Vernon Philander, Keshav Maharaj, Andile Phehlukwayo, Kagiso Rabada, Morne Morkel/Dale Steyn.

ZIM- Hamilton Masakadza, Solomon Mire, Craig Ervine, Brendan Taylor, Regis Chakabva/Ryan Burl, Sikandar Raza, Peter Moor, Graeme Cremer, Kyle Jarvis, Tendai Chatara/Chris Mpofu, Blessing Muzarabani.

Players to watch :

Elgar, Bavuma, Taylor

Try to Make ur Own Team with some changes.

Captain & Vice-captain Options : Kock, Markram, Bavuma, Taylor, Ervine, Masakadza & Mire.

Overview

Seasons don't come much more festive for Australia than this 2017-18 summer. The Ashes are once again theirs. They lead the series 3-0 and can dream of a whitewash - another whitewash - against an England side that has disappointed in almost every way. For Steven Smith and his men, 'tis the season to be jolly and the most wonderful time of the year all rolled into one.

Mitchell Starc will miss the Test due to a bruised heel and will be replaced by Jackson Bird. It will be Bird's first Test since Boxing Day last year, and just his ninth overall in a five-year Test career.

England have also lost a fast bowler to injury. Craig Overton, who has impressed in his first two Test appearances, has a fractured rib and will be replaced by Surrey seamer Tom Curran, who will become the first England player to debut in a Boxing Day Test since wicketkeeper Warren Hegg in 1998.

Probable 11

AUS- David Warner, Cameron Bancroft, Usman Khawaja, Steve Smith, Shaun Marsh, Mitchell Marsh, Tim Paine, Pat Cummins, Nathan Lyon, Josh Hazlewood, Jackson Bird.

ENG- Alastair Cook, Mark Stoneman, James Vince, Joe Root, Dawid Malan, Jonny Bairstow, Moeen Ali, Chris Woakes, Tom Curran, Stuart Broad, James Anderson.

Overview

A month after arriving in New Zealand, West Indies are still in search of a win on the tour. They were blanked 2-0 in the Tests and have already conceded the ODIs 2-0 with a game to go. These performances are indicative of what has largely been a forgettable 2017 for the team. West Indies have lost 15 out of the 21 ODIs they've played this year, failed to qualify for the Champions Trophy in England - a contest between the eight top ranked teams in the world - and they also lost out on a direct entry into the 2019 World Cup.

New Zealand are unlikely to ring in changes. Mitchell Santner has not played a part in this ODI series yet, and that will likely remain the case, with Todd Astle having scored runs and picked up wickets in the two games so far.

Law sounded optimistic about Chris Gayle's recovery from a bout of viral infection. Gayle has been in belligerent form lately: he struck a record 18 sixes in a T20 innings, in the final of the recently-concluded Bangladesh Premier League that gave his side Rangpur Riders the title. Should Gayle recover, Kyle Hope will sit out.

Ronsford Beaton, who was pulled up for a suspect action after the second ODI, is likely to miss out with a side strain, while Kesrick Williams has hamstring troubles. That leaves West Indies thin on the fast-bowling front and they may be forced to pick the left-arm spinner Nikita Miller.

Probable 11

NZ-

George Worker, Colin Munro, Neil Broom, Ross Taylor, Tom Latham, Henry Nicholls, Todd Astle, Doug Bracewell, Lockie Ferguson, Matt Henry, Trent Boult.

WI-
Chris Gayle/Kyle Hope, Evin Lewis, Shai Hope, Shimron Hetmyer, Jason Mohammed, Jason Holder, Rovman Powell, Ashley Nurse, Nikita Miller, Sheldon Cottrell, Shannon Gabriel.

Players who cannot be ignored

Tom Latham- He has set high benchmarks for his opening competitors. He is big threat to watch out for the Windies as he has the tendency to bat for ages.

Shai Hope - They need him to fire if they are to walk off their country with some decent results.

Overview

Sri Lanka keep offering gifts this festive season, and India keep lapping it up. Their bowlers regularly send down half-volleys and half-trackers, wrapped up in ribbons. Their batting line-up continues to suffer rapid collapses. And their fielders keep missing chances. The only gift Sri Lanka have received in return was a spring-loaded boxing glove from an under-strength Indian side.

It's crucial the think-tank gives opportunity to at least two players of the four who haven't featured in the series so far. Any more changes look unlikely. They can also look to rest Jasprit Bumrah considering he's been picked in the Test side for the tour of South Africa.

The visitors will be without the services of Angelo Mathews, who has been ruled out of the final match because of a hamstring injury. In the Indore T20I, they strengthened their batting and will look to continue with the same plan. However, it'll be interesting to see who they bring in. If they do go in with Danushka Gunathilaka, it'll again mean the team will walk in with five openers in the playing XI. Dasun Shanaka is likely to be preferred ahead of the left-hander.

Overview

There have been three internationals and two practice games thus far, and the visiting Windies side is yet to taste success in New Zealand. Windies have not won an ODI since July 2, 2017. The last time they won two successive games was way back during the 2015 World Cup. Yet, with all these numbers stacked up against them, the struggling side can look at their next two ODIs with a sense of optimism.

Matt Henry or Seth Rance is likely to replace Tim Southee in the XI, while Neil Broom may step in for Williamson.

A call on Gayle's availability will be made on the morning of the match. If he cannot play, it is possible that Kyle Hope - brother of Shai - enters the XI. Also to be assessed ahead of the game is seamer Kesrick Williams, who has sustained a hamstring complaint. If he can't play, left-armer Sheldon Cottrell is the likely replacement.

Probable 11

NZ-

George Worker, Colin Munro, Neil Broom, Ross Taylor, Tom Latham, Henry Nicholls, Todd Astle, Doug Bracewell, Lockie Ferguson, Matt Henry/Seth Rance, Trent Boult.

WI-

Players who cannot be ignored

Tom Latham- He has set high benchmarks for his opening competitors. He is big threat to watch out for the Windies as he has the tendency to bat for ages.

Shai Hope - They need him to fire if they are to walk off their country with some decent results.

Try to Make ur Own Team with some changes.

Captain & Vice-captain Options : Broom, Latham, Hetmyer, Walton, Munro, Astle & Holder.

Overview

It's become a norm. A challenge here, a challenge there from Sri Lanka, but India somehow manage to drag past it and emerge as the more dominant and ruthless side, with them favourites to seal another series over their neighbours. Sri Lanka's 100th Twenty20 International also resulted in their second-lowest total and their sixth consecutive loss in the format as they slipped to a 93-run loss in Cuttack after being bowled out for 87 in a chase of 181.

Will India wait to win another home series before giving all the members in the squad a chance? Pacer Basil Thampi and the big-hitting Deepak Hooda are likely to be given a chance either way, in this game or the third T20.

Sri Lanka could make a few changes too, but for different reasons. With Angelo Mathews and Dasun Shanaka available to bowl, they may choose an extra batsman in place of either of their seamers.
