Team News

 Arsenal
  • Laurent Koscielny serves the final match of his suspension this weekend, but Shkodran Mustafi and Per Mertesacker are back in full training and will come into contention. Arsenal's back three of Rob Holding, Nacho Monreal and Sead Kolasinac was shambolic at times against Leicester so there will be some changes there.
  • Alexis Sanchez is still not fit enough to make his first appearance of the season for Arsenal, but is expected back the following weekend. Kieran Gibbs, Francis Coquelin and Jack Wilshere have stepped up their return to first team action with the development squads but none are expected to feature this weekend.
 Stoke
  • Stoke have signed Jese from Paris Saint-Germain on a season-long loan deal and he could be handed a full debut against Arsenal this weekend.
  • Mark Hughes played a 3-4-2-1 formation against Everton last time out and he may tinker with the front line slightly to accomodate fellow new signing Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting.
  • Bruno Martins Indi could also start for the home after re-signing for the club earlier this month.

Probable XI :

Arsenal : Cech, Mustafi, Mertesacker, Kolasinac, Bellerin, Xhaka, Elneny, Chamberlain, Welbeck, Ozil, Lacazette.
Stoke : Butland, Zouma, Shawcross, Indi, Pieters, Fletcher, Allen, Johnson, C Moting, Jese, Shaqiri.

Prediction
  • Stoke's difficult start to the season continues with the reception of Arsenal. The Potters have generally fared well at home to Arsenal in recent years but they did slip to a 4-1 defeat in this corresponding fixture last season.
  • Arsenal came out on the winning end of a seven-goal thriller against Leicester on the opening night of the Premier League season but there are still a lot of things to work on for Arsene Wenger.
  • With key defenders returning to Arsenal this weekend, Stoke are facing the prospect of back-to-back defeats in the league with games against Manchester United and Chelsea on the horizon.
  • The Gunners did not finish last season particularly well away from home and that should give Stoke some confidence ahead of Saturday's meeting. In the end, it might not prove enough for the Potters.
