 Liverpool

• Adam Lallana has been ruled out for three months with a thigh injury.
• Philippe Coutinho has missed Liverpool's last two pre-season matches with a back injury, while he has also been heavily linked with a move to Barcelona. It remains to be seen whether he will be available on Saturday.
• Jordan Henderson missed their friendly with Athletic Club through illness but is expected to recover and captain the side on Saturday.
• Daniel Sturridge suffered a setback in his return to full fitness during pre-season and is also a doubt.
• With Nathaniel Clyne set to miss the opening weekend, Joe Gomez and Trent Alexander-Arnold are vying for a chance to start at right back.
• Alberto Moreno was expected to leave this summer but an excellent pre-season means he could even start ahead of new signing Andrew Robertson at left back.
• Simon Mignolet and Loris Karius are still battling to be Jurgen Klopp's first choice goalkeeper.

 Watford

• Watford striker Troy Deeney has struggled with a groin injury during pre-season and isn't expected to recover in time. On Wednesday Watford announced the club-record arrival of Andre Gray and he might be needed straight away here.
• Roberto Pereyra hasn't played competitively since December but has featured in pre-season and his return will be a welcome boost for Watford.
• Marco Silva has a host of new signings that he can blood into the starting XI against Liverpool. The likes of Chalobah, Hughes, Richarlison and Gray could all start.
• Reports have emerged suggesting Etienne Capoue has not seen eye-to-eye with the new Watford head coach and it wouldn't be a surprise if he was left out of the starting XI here.
