Team News

Bournemouth :
1. Bournemouth have no fresh injury concerns ahead of the visit of Manchester City and rotated much of their squad in the 2-1 midweek win over Birmingham.
2. Jermain Defoe earned a first start since his return to the Cherries in the cup and will hope to get the nod over Benik Afobe at the weekend.
3. After a disappointing result against Watford last week, Howe may make some changes, with Marc Pugh in contention to start on the left following his winner in the cup on Tuesday.

Manchester City :
1. With Kyle Walker suspended following a controversial dismissal against Everton on Monday, Pep Guardiola could call upon Benjamin Mendy for the first time, who has stepped up his recovery from a thigh injury.
2. Danilo should start on the right, while the game may come too soon for midfielders Delph and Gundogan, who are both nearing a return to fitness.
3. Raheem Sterling will hope that his leveller last time out will have been enough to earn a first start of the season, with Bernardo Silva also aiming to come into contention.

Probable XI :

Bournemouth - Begovic, Daniels, AkĆ©, Cook, Smith, Pugh, Arter, Surman, Fraser, King, Defoe.

Manchester City - Ederson, Otamendi, Stones, Kompany, Sterling, Silva, Fernandinho, Bruyne, Danilo, Jesus, AgĆ¼ero.

Prediction

Bournemouth have made a disappointing start to the season, failing to find the net in their first two league outings, but a comeback victory in the cup should have at least boosted their confidence a little.

The Cherries will need to raise their game on Saturday though, that's for sure, up against a City side that felt hard done by on Monday night and are looking to bounce back with a commanding win.

Since the hosts were promoted back in 2015, they've lost all four meetings with their visitors this weekend, conceding 15 and scoring just once.

Prediction: Bournemouth 00-03 Manchester City
